Navigational Assessment

Based on P&I Club Statistics a high proportion of navigational class of claims is still attributed to the following causes and an external audit could result in higher awareness and reduced operational risks for the operator:
• ineffective procedures,
• ignorance of bridge watch keeping best practice,
• poor bridge team management and
• ineffective communication
• limited skills in ECDIS handling
Navigational assessments are based  behavioural competency assessment and technical skill, which verify that the crew soft skills also suitable for the company requirements. Gap analysis and improvement/action plans will drive to continous improvement.

Remote / VDR Navigational Assessment

A Remote Navigation Assessment provides an objective independent check by a trained auditor that the correct procedures are being followed on board. The human element is generally acknowledged to be a major factor still in many shipping incidents and accidents so this audit reduces the risk of future accidents occurring. Can also be identified within such an audit.
